Deep Brain Stimulation

Precision neuromodulation therapy to manage Parkinson's disease, essential tremors, and movement disorders with life-changing results.

What is Deep Brain Stimulation?

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is a revolutionary, FDA-approved surgical therapy that uses precisely implanted electrodes to deliver controlled electrical impulses to targeted regions of the brain. Dr. Agnetia Vinoth employs advanced stereotactic neuro-navigation to place these electrodes with sub-millimetre accuracy, modulating abnormal brain circuits that cause debilitating movement symptoms.

Unlike medications that lose effectiveness over time, DBS provides continuous, adjustable therapy that can dramatically reduce tremors, rigidity, and dyskinesias. The implanted neurostimulator (similar to a pacemaker) can be fine-tuned non-invasively as the patient's condition evolves, providing lasting symptomatic relief and improved quality of life.

Adjustable Therapy

Stimulation settings are tuned wirelessly as conditions change, maximising long-term benefit.

Reversible Procedure

Unlike ablative surgeries, DBS is fully reversible — the device can be turned off or removed if needed.

Conditions We Treat with DBS

  • Parkinson's Disease: Reducing tremor, rigidity, bradykinesia, and medication-induced dyskinesias to restore motor function.
  • Essential Tremor: Dramatically reducing disabling hand, head, and voice tremors that do not respond to medication.
  • Dystonia: Alleviating sustained involuntary muscle contractions and abnormal postures in primary and secondary dystonia.
  • OCD & Psychiatric Disorders: Selected refractory cases of obsessive-compulsive disorder benefit from carefully targeted DBS therapy.
